Assembling and binding the body

The figured maple ribs are thicknessed and bent to the outline of the instrument and attached to the top and bottom blocks. Spruce linings are then bent and glued in place. The top block is then cut to receive the dovetail of the neck joint

The neck is rough set at this stage before the top and back are fixed to the ribs.

This minimizes the amount of work needed to finish the neck set.

The neck dovetail is also checked for alignment with the centre of the top at this stage
The top and back plate are then joined with the ribs and the binding channels cut and the binding glued in place
